Seven days of prayer, music, and community at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Nagercoil Campus — hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 17/09/2026 . We welcome Ganapati home on 11 September and close with Nimarjanam on 17 September.

Significance
Why we celebrate Vinayaka Chaturthi
Vinayaka Chaturthi marks the day Ganesha — Vighnaharta, remover of obstacles, and Buddhi Pradayaka, giver of wisdom — is welcomed into the home and the community. A clay idol is installed, offered modakam and durva grass, and honoured with daily aarti until the day of immersion.
On campus, the celebration keeps that spirit while making room for everyone: seven days of ritual and bajana, a cultural evening for our own performers, and competitions across photography, reels, pot breaking, and traditional attire.

How the festival unfolds
From the morning the idol arrives to the procession that carries it back to the water, each day carries its own ritual — and its own event.
Day 1 — Fri, 11 Sep
Pranapratishtha & Sthapana
The idol is installed and consecrated during the Madhyahna muhurat, followed by the first shodashopachara puja and modak offering.
DAYS 2–3 — 12–13 SEP
Transport & Mess Staff pooja
Morning and evening aarti at the pandal, with bajana groups from the department leading the evening singing.
Day 4 — Mon, 14 Sep
ACET
The main stage opens for classical and folk dance, devotional and light music, and speech, followed by prasadam for everyone present.
Day 5 — Tue, 15 Sep
Dept. Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
Day 6 — Wed, 16 Sep
Dept. of Electrical & communication Engineering
Culturals, Short-form video on the festival theme, shot on campus. Screening and results in the evening.
Day 7 — Thu, 17 Sep
Dept. OF CSE , Nimarjanam
Culturals, Pot breaking and the traditional ramp walk through the day, closing with the Nimarjanam (visarjan) procession to immersion.

Devotional, classical, or light music. Live or recorded backing track both welcome.

Speech
Speak on the significance of the festival, in Tamil, English, or Sanskrit.

Bajana
Group kirtan and bhajan at the pandal during the evening aarti.
